A youth conference or “con”, is a weekend long retreat planned and run as a collaboration between high school youth and supporting adults. The theme of each con informs worship, small group ministry and workshops. We covenant to uphold our standards; a chance for youth to live within UU community as we design it. Cons may be held at a camp or a church and range from 25-100 people.
Youth Conferences are planned and organized by a team of youth staff selected by the youth dean(s). This team usually consists of a Food Prep Team, an Events Coordinator, a Worship Coordinator, a Right Relations Team, and any other positions the youth dean(s) decides on. Anyone can be on youth staff no matter their prior experience, in fact we strongly encourage all youth to take advantage of leadership opportunities. Staff applications are posted on the website and on our social media platforms and any questions about youth staff can be directed to our email, pswdyruu@gmail.com or direct message on Instagram @pswd.yruu.
Each PSWD Youth con has one or two youth members of the PSWD YRUU board that serve as the youth dean(s).
As per regional policy, all youth must be accompanied by one adult from their congregation. Read more here: Roles
All district Youth Cons are sponsored by the PSWD YRUU Board and the Congregation that hosts them.
